Tuya Mobile application is a platform and smart chip that offers a variety of smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) devices and services. The Tuya Smart application is a mobile app that allows users to control and manage their Tuya-compatible smart devices from their smartphones or tablets. These devices can include smart lights, plugs, switches, cameras, thermostats, door locks, and more.
This is just like LG smart home devices and application as explained by Business Now. Ot smart Things that belongs to Samsung. As much as there are players like LG and Smart things, I like Tuya for many reasons.
I have been using Tuya for a long time and what sets it apart from others include; first, Device Control: Users can remotely control their connected smart devices, turning them on or off, adjusting settings, and customizing features. Well this is a very normal application for most smart chips but it is the simplicity and direct ways of adding devices that sets Tuya apart from the rest.
Automation: The app often provides the ability to create automation routines or scenarios, where users can set up specific actions to occur based on triggers like time, device status, or other conditions. Automations is the main reason for the use of smart things. Allowing the user to set things in motions based on other changes in the eco-system.
Voice Control: There is nothing as helpful as a voice assistant in smart homes. Many Tuya-compatible devices can be integrated with popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri, allowing users to control devices using voice commands.
Remote Access: The app usually offers remote access to devices, enabling users to monitor and control their smart home devices from anywhere with an internet connection. It goes without saying that a smart thing that is cloud based can be operated from anywhere. Tuya chipped smart locks have integrated motors to allow for unlocking of doors remotely.
Grouping: Users can often group multiple devices together for simultaneous control or to create coordinated actions.Security: The Tuya Smart app may include security features like real-time camera monitoring, motion detection alerts, and two-way audio communication for compatible devices.
Firmware Updates: This being a cloud based system means that firmware can be updated continuously and less manually. The app often facilitates firmware updates for connected devices to ensure they have the latest features and security enhancements. Energy Management: Some Tuya-compatible smart devices provide energy usage data and allow users to monitor and optimize energy consumption.
Smart Scenes: Users can create predefined scenes that activate multiple devices simultaneously to achieve a specific desired environment or setting.
It's important to note that the Tuya Smart platform supports a wide range of third-party manufacturers and brands that integrate their devices with the Tuya ecosystem. This allows for a diverse selection of smart devices that can all be controlled and managed through the Tuya Smart app. In fact, apart from the integration of Tuya to the Home assistant ecosystem, Control 4 has now added Tuya to their eco -system. You can now have Tuya devices in your home and a Control 4 dashboard.
To get started with the Tuya Smart application, you typically need to create an account, add your compatible devices to the app, and follow the app's instructions for setting up and controlling your smart home ecosystem. Keep in mind that the specific features and user interface of the Tuya Smart app may have evolved since my last knowledge update in September 2021, so I recommend checking the official Tuya website or app store for the most up-to-date information.
The only downside for tuya is that it is cloud based. This means that commands can only be executed through the internet. It does not have Local execution like Home Assistant where you can execute commands over the home wifi without Internet. Even on Local Tuya, a system they created to integrate Tuya devices on home assistant, commands go through the cloud.
I have used Tuya for almost everything, I can confirm that even if the devices are cloud based, they are quite fast. You will notice the delay in execution. For example, closing the curtain is almost instant, making tuya a good system. Being cloud based is also an advantage in that we leave the security of the system to the owners of Tuya.
